Homemade Horchata Recipe - A Canadian Spin on a Mexican Classic
I'm a Canadian girl and maple is one of my most favourite flavours. I've been spending the first months of almost every year in California... for the last decade. That's where training camps go down, where the North American cycling race calendar begins, and where the Mexican cuisine is ON POINT. I discovered horchata in California. I fell in love with it for drinking after long, hot rides, and intense training sessions.
Horchata is a sweet Mexican drink made with rice milk, that reminded me of a chai latte the first time I tasted it. It's flavoured mainly with cinnamon.
I've come up with a really easy Vitamix recipe (or you can use a regular blender if it can pulverize rice and cinnamon) that is fast, and fun to make.
